چکیده

We propose a novel locally adaptive learning estimator for enhancing the interand intradiscriminative capabilities of Deep Neural Networks, which can be used as improved loss layer for semantic image segmentation tasks. Most loss layers compute pixel-wise cost between feature maps and ground truths, ignoring spatial layouts and interactions between neighboring pixels with same object category, and thus networks cannot be effectively sensitive to intra-class connections. Stride by stride, our method firstly conducts adaptive pooling filter operating over predicted feature maps, aiming to merge predicted distributions over a small group of neighboring pixels with same category, and then computes cost between the merged distribution vector and their category label. Such design can make groups of neighboring predictions from same category involved into estimations on predicting correctness with respect to their category, and hence train networks to be more sensitive to regional connections between adjacent pixels based on their categories. In the experiments on Pascal VOC 2012 segmentation datasets, the consistently improved results show that our proposed approach achieves better segmentation masks against previous counterparts.

A Hybrid Algorithm based on Deep Learning and Restricted Boltzmann Machine for Car Semantic Segmentation from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)-based Thermal Infrared Images

Nowadays, ground vehicle monitoring (GVM) is one of the areas of application in the intelligent traffic control system using image processing methods. In this context, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles based on thermal infrared (UAV-TIR) images is one of the optimal options for GVM due to the suitable spatial resolution, cost-effective and low volume of images. The methods that have been prop...

Adaptive Affinity Field for Semantic Segmentation

Existing semantic segmentation methods mostly rely on per-pixel supervision, unable to capture structural regularity present in natural images. Instead of learning to enforce semantic labels on individual pixels, we propose to enforce affinity field patterns in individual pixel neighbourhoods, i.e., the semantic label patterns of whether neighbouring pixels are in the same segment should match ...

Robust Potato Color Image Segmentation using Adaptive Fuzzy Inference System

Potato image segmentation is an important part of image-based potato defect detection. This paper presents a robust potato color image segmentation through a combination of a fuzzy rule based system, an image thresholding based on Genetic Algorithm (GA) optimization and morphological operators. The proposed potato color image segmentation is robust against variation of background, distance and ...

Fully Convolutional Multi-Class Multiple Instance Learning

Multiple instance learning (MIL) can reduce the need for costly annotation in tasks such as semantic segmentation by weakening the required degree of supervision. We propose a novel MIL formulation of multi-class semantic segmentation learning by a fully convolutional network. In this setting, we seek to learn a semantic segmentation model from just weak image-level labels. The model is trained...
